Obico — formerly The Spaghetti Detective — adds a monitoring layer with automatic failure detection to OctoPrint or Klipper: it analyses the camera image and warns you when a print turns into a plate of spaghetti, optionally pausing it by itself. The server is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0, so it can be self-hosted at no cost; the vendor also offers Obico Cloud, a managed service with paid plans, plus Android and iOS apps. It is the most direct answer to the emerging 'AI for 3D printing problems' query, which almost nobody addresses in Spanish today.

  • Anyone already running OctoPrint or Klipper who wants an alerting layer on top
  • Self-hosting the monitoring without depending on anyone's cloud

Limitations

  • AI detection produces false positives and false negatives: it is an aid, not a guarantee
  • It needs a well-lit, well-placed camera to work
  • The cloud service has paid plans; self-hosting means standing up the server yourself
  • It replaces neither supervision nor fire precautions
