Slicers
OrcaSlicer
A community fork of Bambu Studio, free and AGPL-3.0 licensed, with built-in calibration tools and support for printers from many brands.
OrcaSlicer began as a fork of Bambu Studio and is today the reference slicer for anyone who wants the conveniences of the Bambu ecosystem but with other brands' printers and finer control. Its most useful difference is the built-in calibration suite — temperature tower, pressure advance, flow rate, retraction, tolerances — which other programs make you download as separate models. It is published under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 on GitHub, with installers for Windows (x64 and arm64), universal macOS and Linux (AppImage and Flatpak). It matters in Mexico for a practical reason: the installed base is still full of Enders and assorted brands, and OrcaSlicer covers them without forcing a change of workflow.
Best for
- Calibrating a new printer without hunting for test models online
- Workshops running several brands in one workflow
- Users who want fine control without giving up a modern interface
- Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic and Bambu Lab machines in a single program
Limitations
- The sheer number of settings can overwhelm a newcomer
- As a community project, the pace of fixes depends on volunteers
- Support for each brand's proprietary features lags behind the vendor's own program
- Spanish-language documentation is scarce
