Assumptions

  • The machine is depreciated linearly over print hours up to the service life you declare. This is not an accounting or tax rule: it is a practical pro-rating.
  • Annual maintenance (nozzles, belts, bearings, FEP film, LCD screen, PTFE tube, build plate) is spread across the hours you actually print per year.
  • The failure rate is read as the probability of losing a whole attempt. The total is the expected cost per GOOD PART: subtotal ÷ (1 − p).
  • You take the kWh price from your CFE bill. If your tariff is tiered, work out the effective price in the electricity calculator first and bring it here.
  • All amounts are in Mexican pesos and shown rounded to the peso.

Limitations

  • Excludes labour, post-processing, packaging, shipping, software and commercial margin. This is the cost to produce the part, not its selling price.
  • A failure caught halfway wastes less material and energy than one at the end. The model charges the full attempt, so it overestimates: deliberately conservative.
  • Almost no manufacturer publishes a consumer printer's service life in hours. Whatever you enter is your own hypothesis, not a verified figure.
  • Hourly wear assumes even usage. Printing abrasives (carbon fibre, GF) wears nozzles far faster than this pro-rating reflects.
  • Does not model idle machine time or opportunity cost.

Assumptions

  • The electricity tariff is entered by the user from their own CFE bill; we do not publish a tariff as a fixed fact.
  • The failure rate is a user-declared percentage applied by division, not addition: reprinting one part in ten adds 11 %, not 10 %.
  • Printer service life in hours is the user's estimate; we propose no default.
  • Labour counts human time (setup, support removal, sanding), not machine hours.

Limitations

  • It does not compute taxes or withholdings: if you sell, ask your accountant about VAT, income tax and your tax regime.
  • It does not know your shipping, packaging or marketplace fees (Mercado Libre, Amazon, card processing).
  • A printer's real average power differs a lot between warm-up and steady state; one average figure will always be approximate.
  • It does not replace a quotation: it is a base so that yours stops being a hunch.
