Short definition
Warping is the deformation where the part's corners lift off the bed because the material contracts unevenly as it cools.
Full definition
Every thermoplastic shrinks as it cools. If the lower layers are already cold while the upper ones are still hot, internal stresses appear and pull the edges upward until they detach. The greater the material's shrinkage, the worse it gets: ABS and polycarbonate are the extreme cases, PLA the mildest. The defences are environmental before they are software: a heated bed at the right temperature, an enclosure to stop draughts, a brim to hold the corners down, and not printing next to a window or a fan.
