SLA

Also known as: sla · estereolitografia · estereolitografía · stereolithography · laser resina

Short definition

SLA is the resin printing technology that traces each layer with a focused ultraviolet laser point by point, instead of projecting the whole layer at once.

Full definition

It was the first additive manufacturing technology and remains the precision reference for professional equipment. Because the layer is drawn with a moving laser point, time depends on how much area has to be traced, so filling the platform does lengthen the print, unlike MSLA. In exchange, edge quality does not depend on a pixel grid. On the desktop it has been almost entirely displaced by MSLA for a cost reason: an LCD screen is far cheaper than a laser and galvanometer assembly.
