Short definition
3D printing resin is a photopolymer liquid that solidifies when it receives ultraviolet light, normally at a 405 nanometre wavelength.
Full definition
It consists of monomers and oligomers, photoinitiators that trigger the reaction when hit by light, and additives that adjust colour, viscosity and final properties. Typical densities for consumer formulations run from 1.05 to 1.25 g/cm³. Liquid resin is an irritant and a sensitiser: it requires nitrile gloves, safety glasses and ventilation, and neither it nor the alcohol used to wash parts may go down the drain. Prusa puts it bluntly: resin bottles, empty or full, do not go in ordinary rubbish.
