Short definition
Curing is the reaction by which liquid resin solidifies when it receives ultraviolet light, both during printing and in the finishing step afterwards.
Full definition
During printing, each layer cures with an exposure measured in seconds: the bottom layers get much longer to bond to the platform — 20 to 40 seconds according to manufacturers — and the rest between 1.5 and 3.6 seconds. That time is the critical setting in resin printing: too little exposure and the layer will not stick; too much and details thicken while cavities close up. Consumer resins work at 405 nanometres, the wavelength of MSLA printer screens.
